When a single casting isn't enough, there are situations when many castings are required. Consider coven casting if you desire full strength and utmost power with your spell casting.

Put a piece of rope aside for magic. Using the same lunar pattern as candle magic, tie one knot in the rope each night while thinking very clearly about what you want to happen. Tie the knots in a way that pulls the object toward you and away from you. In Cornwall, witches' ladders have been around for a long time. They were often sold to fishermen before they went out to sea. If you untied the first knot, a light breeze would come out, the second knot would let out a stronger wind, and so on. A witch's ladder is also a string of 40 beads used like a rosary to help people repeat things over and over.
 
Poppets of witches
 
Poppets are small figures made of wax, clay, or even Plasticene that look like the person the magic is meant to affect. In a coven, the poppet may be consecrated on a witches' altar, tied by a cord to both a woman and a man (Wiccans believe that male and female energy combined make the most powerful magic), and given the right symbolic treatment. As part of a healing ritual, the poppet's leg might be bandaged, or its mouth might be sewn shut to stop the real person it represents from spreading rumours. When the spell has done its job, the poppet will be burned or buried, which will break the spell.
 
I thought I was a witch when I was a little girl. I would use my mom's old milkpan to stir wild berry and gladiola stews over a fire at the back of our garden on warm summer nights. I would then pour the mixture into jam jars and label them "potion." I talked to other witches who couldn't be seen by writing in witch language on the door of my cupboard. At night, I made up witch songs and sang them out the window. I started to ask to be treated badly. I wanted to be thrown into a chasm, even though these aren't very common in Basildon. To my parents' credit, they didn't give in to what must have been almost impossible by that time, and I lived. I didn't feel lucky enough, so I got a black cat. I finally fed my hamster to a toad, which I will always be sorry about.
 
Soon after that, I learned about Fuzzy Felt or Pippa dolls, and I forgot all about witchcraft. Until a few years ago, when The Old Religion, as witches often call it, suddenly came out of the broom closet and into the light. The Craft and The Blair Witch Project were both made into movies, and The Witches of Eastwick was made into a musical. The first Harry Potter book came out, and it sold a lot of copies. Sabrina British TV started showing The Teenage Witch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hecate was becoming cool in Britain, America, and other places. Something strange was going on.
